Fun Idea Friday: Fun Winter Engagement Picture Ideas
Winter is upon us, and if you haven’t already booked your wedding photographer for this summer, now is the time. In fact, if you are looking at a 2012 wedding, now is a good time for you too!
That being said, the next step is getting you fabulous engagement pictures in the middle of winter. Here are some ideas for getting just the right engagement photos.
1. Try outdoor winter portraits. We love outdoor portraits, and although it is a little cooler this time of year, we think the results will be well worth the temperature. Just check out Alicia and Rich’s winter engagement pictures elsewhere on our blog (Walking in a Winter Wonderland: Rich and Alicia’s Winter Outdoor Engagement Session in Binghamton, NY). Mother nature blesses the Binghamton, NY area with a beautiful winter backdrop, why not use it?
2. Like the idea but hate the cold? There are other ways to have winter themed portraits. Try taking them in front of a lit fireplace. Get a couple of new sweaters and some mugs of cocoa and your winter portraits will melt the hearts of your guests, without leaving you in the cold. Or consider visiting an indoor ice rink, which will have ice but hopefully no precipitation.
3. Want your engagement pics to reflect your tropical summer wedding? Well we can do that too. How about a visit to the year round Popp Butterfly Conservatory in Oneonta, NY? Dress like it’s summer and match your tropical theme without leaving NY.

Please Note: This is not an actual picture of the Popp Butterfly Conservatory.
4. You say you want destination engagement pictures? Why not! If your heart is set on Jamaican engagement portraits let us know. We would love to travel somewhere special for your pictures- just bear in mind this costs a little extra.

This California wedding actually doesn't count as "destination" since we have photographers in the LA area as well.
